The Cabinet of Ministers carried out a reorganization: seven ministries were merged into three
On July 21, the Cabinet of Ministers carried out a reorganization of government structures, as a result of which four ministries were liquidated. About changes reported representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.
The Ministry of Social Policy received a new name — the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine. The Ministry of National Unity, created last year, is attached to it.
The Ministry of Economy will now function as the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine. In this regard, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, as well as the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources ceased to exist.
The Ministry of Strategic Industries was also abolished. Its powers, in particular in the field of state industrial policy, defense-industrial complex, aviation and space industry, have been transferred to the Ministry of Defense.
“The new edition of the Regulations on the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stipulates that the Ministry of Defense is the main body in the system of central executive bodies, which ensures the formation and implementation of: state policy on national security in the military sphere, the sphere of defense and military construction in peacetime and a special period; state industrial policy, state military-industrial policy, state policy in the field of the defense-industrial complex, in the aircraft industry and ensures the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of space activities”, – explained Melnychuk.
After the reform, the structure of the government includes 15 ministries.
