The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated more than UAH 17 million for compensation for the accommodation of IDPs in institutions

The Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate more than 17 million hryvnias for compensation for free accommodation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in various institutions. About this reported the press service of the government.

The compensations will cover the costs of utility services that were consumed during the placement of IDPs in state, communal and private premises.

The decision was made at a government meeting and provides for the allocation of over 17.7 million hryvnias from the reserve fund of the state budget to compensate for expenses incurred in the period from March 2022 to June 2024.

The distribution of funds provides for:

  • over 900,000 hryvnias — to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health for compensation to state-owned institutions;
  • more than 14.1 million hryvnias — to communal institutions, educational institutions financed from local budgets, and institutions jointly owned by territorial communities under the management of regional and district councils.

The Ministry of Reintegration will distribute this subsidy from the state budget to local budgets in accordance with the approved plan between regional budgets and the budget of the city of Kyiv.

In addition, 2.6 million hryvnias are provided for regional military administrations to compensate the costs of private institutions, with the exception of private educational institutions.

It is worth noting that since March 1 this year, the rules for calculating payments for IDPs have been changed in Ukraine, reducing the number of categories that will be entitled to such payments.

On August 30, the government extended state assistance to the most vulnerable groups of IDPs.
