DIU speaks out about MP Shevchenko, who was considered to be connected to intelligence
The Main Intelligence Directorate has issued a statement regarding the scandalous MP Yevhen Shevchenko, who was previously linked to the activities of intelligence agencies.
In particular, the representative of the GUR, Andriy Yusov, clarified that the person in question is not an employee of the GUR, RBC-Ukraine reports.
Yusov stressed that all citizens of Ukraine, especially MPs, should be responsible for the interests of the state and refrain from making statements that could harm national security.
‘Any step towards justifying the occupier, attempts to shift responsibility from the aggressor to the victim are obviously warming up the enemy. Such actions should be adequately assessed by the competent authorities,’ he stressed.
We remind you that the day before, Shevchenko called on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to start negotiations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and even hinted that if he refused, he would be ‘forced to leave’. Earlier, the MP also claimed to be an intelligence agent, which was partially confirmed by the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, who noted that Shevchenko had helped in communications with Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Belarus.
The head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, also commented on Shevchenko’s scandalous statement, noting on Telegram that ‘some MPs seem to have lost their bearings in matters of national security, the interests of the state and the future of Ukraine’.
