The Cabinet of Ministers has changed the conditions for business to prevent power outages

On November 26, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted amendments to the Regulation on the peculiarities of electricity import during martial law, which provide for easing the conditions for non-household consumers to avoid blackouts. About this reported representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.

Under the new rules, businesses will be able to avoid blackouts if they supply more than 60% of their electricity consumption through imports (previously the requirement was 80%) or if at least 60% of electricity is produced by their own generation capacity.

Electricity consumption limitation schedules, hourly and emergency shutdowns, as well as other restrictive measures will not apply to such consumers.

“The decision of the government was adopted taking into account the increase in capacity limits for the import of electric energy to Ukraine from European countries to 2.1 GW. This will create additional incentives for attracting a larger volume of commercial imports of electric power, will allow the development of own electricity generation and ensure greater stability of the energy system in conditions of shortage “, — explained the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko.
