The Cabinet of Ministers has limited the powers of local authorities to prohibit the sale of alcohol

The Cabinet of Ministers narrowed the powers of regional state administrations regarding the ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages. The government made the relevant decision at a meeting on May 13. reported representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.
Amendments were made to the Procedure for establishing by regional state administrations (regional military administrations) during martial law the prohibition of trade in alcoholic beverages and alcohol-based substances during a certain period of the day.
From now on, the head of the regional administration (or the head of the regional military administration) has the right to introduce a ban on the sale of alcohol only with the approval of the military command, and only in the territories where hostilities are ongoing or may take place, as well as in temporarily occupied lands.
The previous edition of the document did not provide for such territorial restrictions, which gave the leadership of the regions wider powers in this matter.
We will remind you that in July of last year, Law No. 3817-IX came into force, which canceled all temporary bans on the sale of alcohol established by local administrations, with the exception of settlements with a threat of hostilities. Since then, time restrictions can only apply within the curfew. Despite this, in some regions, in particular in Ternopil, the local authorities decided to maintain restrictions on the sale of alcohol.
