The Council increased the salary of deputy assistants: how much they receive from July 1

According to the author of the resolution, this will not affect the budget.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted draft law No. 11384, which provides for an increase in the salaries of people’s deputies’ assistants from July 1. The salary increased by almost 40 thousand hryvnias. About this reported on the official website of the VRU.

The increase was supported by 264 people’s deputies out of 401.

Before the promotion, assistants of people’s deputies, who are allowed to have no more than 31 per person, received 88.4 thousand hryvnias per month. After the salary increase, the salary increased to 132.6 thousand hryvnias per month, which is 43.8 of the subsistence minimum established for able-bodied persons on January 1, 2024.

The proposal to increase salaries was made by the head of the VRU Committee on Social Policy, Galina Tretyakova. The explanatory note states that the current salary level of people’s deputies’ assistants “violates the stability of the law-making support system” and makes it difficult for deputies to “provide remuneration” for assistants. According to Tretyakova, the wage increase will not affect the state budget of Ukraine and the funding of the Verkhovna Rada for 2024.

Critics of the initiative have expressed concern about the feasibility of such a significant wage increase at a time of economic instability. They emphasize the need to review expenses and optimize the budget.

Supporters claim that the salary increase will help attract qualified specialists to the positions of assistants, which will have a positive effect on the quality of law-making activities. They also note that high salaries will help prevent corruption risks, as assistants will not look for additional sources of income.
