The court extended the arrest of Kolomoisky in the case of the assassination attempt

The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv decided to extend the term of detention of businessman Ihor Kolomoisky until February 9, 2025. The decision concerns a case in which a businessman is suspected of involvement in an attempt on lawyer Serhiy Karpenko.

About this reported Serhii Leshchenko, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.

The incident in question happened in 2003 in Crimea. According to the investigation, the attempt was made due to the refusal of lawyer Serhiy Karpenko to assist Ihor Kolomoisky in establishing control over the Dniprospetsstal plant. Karpenko was stabbed three times during the attack, but survived.

Four persons who directly committed the crime were detained and later sentenced to prison terms from six to twelve years. In 2005, a case was opened against Kolomoisky on suspicion of ordering an assassination attempt on Karpenko, but the case did not proceed.

Earlier, the Kyiv Court of Appeal reduced the amount of bail for the businessman by more than 50 million hryvnias, setting it at 1 billion 827 million 352 thousand 580 hryvnias.
