The current Verkhovna Rada will not reveal banking secrecy: Hetmantsev

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, said that the ninth convocation of the parliament does not plan to pass a law on disclosure of bank secrecy. That’s what he’s about reported in the “Chronicles of Economics” podcast.

“We will not disclose banking secrets during this convocation of the Verkhovna Rada for sure.” – emphasized the people’s deputy.

Answering questions about the Ministry of Finance’s declaration, which states that disclosure of bank secrecy is one of the planned steps, Hetmantsev noted that this document is designed for three years. He also expressed the hope that the current convocation of the Council will not work throughout this period. In the end, Hetmantsev added that on the horizon of 2026 it is not worth talking about the possibility of revealing bank secrets.

At the same time, Danylo Hetmantsev considers it necessary for the defense-industrial complex to adopt a draft law that exempts the industry from responsibility for certain criminal crimes, including possible corruption offenses, under martial law.

Hetmantsev said that in the conditions of martial law, the activities of the defense-industrial complex are excessively regulated. He clarified that it is about violations related to environmental regulations and labor protection requirements. In his opinion, exempting defense businesses from liability for non-compliance with certain requirements is a justified step in the current circumstances.
