IAEA Director General Grossi will arrive in Kyiv to discuss nuclear safety

On February 4, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi will visit Ukraine. As reported agency, the visit is aimed at conducting high-level negotiations in Kyiv, where measures to prevent a nuclear disaster in wartime will be discussed.
This is Grossi’s 11th mission to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion almost three years ago. According to the IAEA’s statement, the purpose of the visit is to demonstrate Ukraine’s continued support and assistance in ensuring nuclear safety.
Rafael Grossi emphasized that the agency remains in Ukraine and continues active activities aimed at minimizing the risks associated with the use of nuclear facilities in the war zone. He emphasized that the situation in the country remains unstable, and therefore the work of the IAEA remains critically important for ensuring security.
We will remind you that Grossi’s previous meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyi took place on September 3, 2024 in Kyiv. During the new visit, the parties are expected to discuss current threats to the nuclear infrastructure and ways to eliminate them.
