The daughter of prosecutor Hunka, caught in bribery, rests in luxury hotels and buys expensive brands: investigation
The existing financial discrepancies in the declarations raise many questions from journalists regarding the income of Angelina Gunko's family.
A student of the prestigious Kyiv Institute of International Relations (IIR), 19-year-old Angelina Gunko leads a luxurious lifestyle, resting in 5-star hotels, traveling around Europe and wearing designer clothes from Gucci. Journalists of the “Telegraph” decided to investigate where the daughter of a civil servant has such financial opportunities.
After looking at Angelina’s Instagram, journalists noticed numerous signs of a luxurious life. In particular, in the photo you can see luxury brands: a Celine bag, which costs approximately 3,600 euros (161,772 UAH), and a YSL belt worth about 495 euros (22,247 UAH).
In addition, the student often rests in expensive places. In August 2023, she stayed at the 5-star Odessa hotel Villa Le Premier, and in January of this year she visited the Bukovel resort.
Angelina’s parents, who work as prosecutors, claim that she lives in the IMV dormitory. You can really see photos from the institute on Instagram. However, the interiors that Angelina shows in her posts do not look like typical student dormitories: there you can see a modern kitchen, an intercom and a walk-in closet, which raises doubts about her real place of residence.
Angelina Gunko’s father is Oleg Gunko, prosecutor of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Today NABU detained two high-ranking officials of the prosecutor’s office for a bribe of 170 thousand dollars, and according to the information of journalist Yuriy Butusov, one of them is Oleg Gunko.
In 2023, Oleg Gunko received UAH 478,646 in pension, UAH 1,331,677 in salary, and UAH 9,305 in income from renting out property. In addition, he declared $60,000 in cash.
Angelina’s mother is not mentioned in Oleh Hunek’s declaration. The last mention of his wife dates back to 2019. Alina Gunko works in the prosecutor’s office of the Khmelnytsky region and earned 305 thousand hryvnias in 2023.
These financial figures raise questions about the sources of funding for Angelina’s lavish lifestyle. Journalists continue to investigate whether the declared income is sufficient to cover the costs of travel, branded clothing and accommodation in expensive hotels, as well as whether there are other, unknown sources of funding.
These discrepancies have attracted the attention of journalists, who are continuing their investigation to find out the true sources of funding for Angelina Gunko’s luxurious life. It remains unclear whether this is a result of her parents’ income or whether there are other unknown factors influencing her lifestyle.
