The Cabinet of Ministers is preparing to create the Ministry of Return of Ukrainians: what will it do?

Ukraine plans to create a new ministry that will be responsible for the reintegration of citizens who went abroad during the war. The new structure will have the working title “Ministry of Return of Ukrainians”. This initiative was discussed at a meeting of the “Servant of the People” faction on September 4, where personnel changes in the government were also discussed. The search for the head of this ministry is currently underway.

The head of the faction is Davyd Arakhamia noted, that it will be a fundamentally new state body designed to resolve complex issues related to the return of Ukrainians from abroad after the end of the war. According to him, the name “Ministry of Return of Ukrainians” is still working, and the functionality of the ministry is being discussed.

“We are currently considering candidates who could lead this ministry”, – said Arahamiya, emphasizing the importance of effective leadership in the new institution.

Despite the fact that official information about the tasks of the ministry has not yet been disclosed, it can be assumed from the name that its main goal will be the organization of the return process of Ukrainian citizens who were forced to emigrate due to the war.

Ukrainians abroad

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, more than 17 million Ukrainians have left the country, of which about 6 million have remained in the EU countries.
