The deputy who caused the explosion in the village council of Transcarpathia was sentenced to life imprisonment

The court found the deputy of the Keretsk village council guilty of a terrorist act that led to the death of people, and sentenced him to life imprisonment with confiscation of property. About this reported Office of the Prosecutor General on November 22.
The crime occurred on December 15, 2023, when a deputy detonated three RGD-5 and F-1 combat grenades during a village council meeting. As a result of the explosions, 26 people were injured, two of whom later died from their injuries: one man died the day after the incident, and the other one a month later.
According to the investigation, the deputy was preparing for the crime in advance. He used his connections in criminal circles to purchase live grenades, which he kept at home. On the day of the session, he brought grenades to the council premises, brought them into combat readiness and threw them one by one on the floor in the hall where the deputies were present.
The court found the deputy guilty of ch. 3 Art. 258 (terrorist act that caused the death of people) and ch. 1 Art. 263 (illegal carrying, storage, acquisition of explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The verdict is based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine.
