EU and the world

The EU declared the inadmissibility of “elections” in the occupied Crimea

The European Union strongly condemned the holding of the so-called “elections” in the occupied Crimea, calling them another violation of international law, the UN Charter, as well as the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. This is stated in statements European External Action Service (EEAS).

The EEAS emphasized that the European Union does not recognize either the process of these elections or their results. Elections organized by Russia in the occupied territory do not have any legal force. All those who were involved in the organization of these illegal actions will be prosecuted, the statement said.

The EU recalls the resolution of the UN General Assembly of March 27, 2014, which confirms the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

“The European Union confirms its unchanged position regarding Crimea: it is part of Ukraine”, – stated in the statement.

The European Union also emphasized that the only way to resolve the conflict is the immediate cessation by Russia of its illegal aggression against Ukraine and the withdrawal of all Russian troops and equipment from Ukrainian territory within internationally recognized borders.

We will remind that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine declared the results of the so-called elections in Crimea invalid, and the process itself – illegitimate.
