The European Commission supported the signing of the subsoil agreement between the United States and Ukraine

European Commission supported signing a strategic agreement on subsoil and reaching an agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the United States on the creation of the “Reconstruction Investment Fund”.
“The Commission welcomes the commitment of the United States to invest with Ukraine in a free, sovereign, and secure Ukraine. Ukraine’s reconstruction needs are enormous, and the EU remains committed to investing in Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts.” — informed the EC.
In Brussels, they also emphasized that they will simultaneously promote the further integration of the Ukrainian economy into the EU Single Market, which will further strengthen economic ties between the parties.
“The Commission takes into account that today’s agreement contains special provisions aimed at ensuring Ukraine’s compliance with its application to join the European Union, as well as avoiding conflicts with existing obligations under the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area“, the European Commission noted.
The EC expects the proper implementation of these provisions and emphasizes that the agreement recognizes Ukraine’s course towards joining the EU as an important reference point in strengthening its sovereignty, security and well-being.
“In the face of Russia’s unprovoked war of aggression, the EU, the United States, and all our allies and partners must continue to support Ukraine in its struggle for a just and lasting peace, hold Russia accountable for its crimes, and at the same time meet Ukraine’s immediate and medium-term needs.” – concluded the spokesperson of the European Commission.
