The European Parliament proposes to deprive Hungary of the right to vote

MEPs from the Volt party propose to deprive Hungary of the right to vote in the EU due to its blocking of important decisions. They plan to present the corresponding initiative to European leaders. About this informs Political.

The document contains nine points, including a proposal to deprive Budapest of the right to vote, as well as an initiative to appoint the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Callas, as a full-fledged EU foreign minister.

In addition, the authors of the document advocate the creation of a common European army and the revision of EU treaties to expand competences in the field of defense and prepare for the future enlargement of the Union.

We will remind you that Hungary has repeatedly used the right of veto to block key EU decisions, in particular regarding aid to Ukraine and sanctions against Russia. This has led to increased criticism from European MPs, who demand limiting its influence in the Council of the EU. In addition, Brussels has frozen billions of euros in funding for Budapest, demanding conditions to strengthen democratic institutions.
