The ex-head of Ukraine’s leading oil refining concern was put on the international wanted list

The former chairman of the board of one of the leading oil refining concerns of Ukraine and five of his accomplices have been declared wanted by Interpol in the case of embezzlement of 5.8 billion hryvnias. About this reported National Police of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the former official organized a criminal group, to which he involved his deputy, the head of the department and six businessmen. The operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations found out that the companies controlled by him concluded agreements with the oil refining corporation for the supply of petroleum products, but the calculations were not carried out. Instead, the funds obtained as a result of the embezzlement were laundered through foreign bank accounts.

As a result, nine members of this organized group were notified of suspicion of taking possession of someone else’s property through abuse of official position, committed by an organized group on a particularly large scale (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Law enforcement officers also seized securities accounts of a French investment company linked to the former official and corporate rights of a number of enterprises.

Six suspects have been declared a state and international wanted man. With the support of the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Ukraine, Red Notices were issued in relation to them, registered in the databases of the General Secretariat of Interpol. If the location of these persons is established in any country of the world cooperating with Interpol, they will be detained and extradited to Ukraine. According to the law, they face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
