The Russians struck Nikopol: a child died, three adults were injured

On the morning of September 9, Russian troops launched another attack on the city of Nikopol, located in the Dnipropetrovsk region, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old girl and the wounding of three more civilians. This shelling became one of a series of attacks targeting peaceful settlements, as a result of which civilians were injured.

Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, said that the Russians had fired about ten artillery shells at the residential quarters of Nikopol. The impact caused significant destruction, damaged private homes, infrastructure facilities and households of local residents.

“A 16-year-old girl died in Nikopol due to Russian artillery shelling. Employees of the State Emergency Service pulled her out from under the rubble of a damaged house. Unfortunately, she received life-threatening injuries.”, – stated the head of OVA.

In addition, three more people were injured during the attack. A 79-year-old man was hospitalized with shrapnel wounds of moderate severity. Two more victims – a 74-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman – received medical help on the spot and refused hospitalization.

This shelling is only one of many aimed at the Nikopol district. Earlier, on September 7, Russian troops shelled Myrivska and Marganetska communities, as a result of which a woman died and another person was injured. Constant attacks create difficult conditions for the local population, which faces daily threats to life and destruction of homes.

Rescue services continue to work at the scene, eliminating the consequences of the shelling. Ukrainian authorities call on the international community to increase pressure on Russia to stop attacks on civilian objects and civilians.
