The Federation of Employers demands to cancel the increase in the electricity transmission tariff

January 6 Federation of Employers of Ukraine (FRU) turned to to the head of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NKREKP) Yury Vlasenko with a demand to immediately cancel the decision to increase the electricity transmission tariff for “Ukrenergo” by 30%.
According to the new calculations, the tariff increased from UAH 528.57 to UAH 686.23/MWh. The FRU calls this decision unfounded, non-transparent and such that it can cause significant damage to the Ukrainian economy.
“This decision is not only economically unreasonable, but also contradicts the principles of openness and transparency. The final approval of the resolution on the tariff increase was scheduled for December 10, 2024. However, during the meeting itself, this issue was removed from consideration without explaining the reasons for such a decision and without specification of the date of the Regulator’s meeting, during which it will be considered.
It is worth emphasizing that the information about the holding of such a meeting was made public on the website of the NCRECP only a few hours before the start. This effectively deprived the public and businesses of the opportunity to properly prepare. Such an approach grossly violates the principles of openness and transparency, and also raises serious doubts about the objectivity of the adopted decision.” – says the appeal.
The FRU warns that a 30% increase in the electricity transmission tariff will negatively affect the competitiveness of Ukrainian products, cause a decrease in production volumes, reduce tax revenues and have negative socio-economic consequences. According to the Federation’s estimates, additional business costs due to the tariff increase will reach UAH 13 billion.
