The former head of the Kyiv metro was declared a suspect due to the flooding of tunnels between the stations “Demiivska” and “Lybidska”

The former head of the utility company “Kyiv Metropoliten” was officially suspected of official negligence related to the flooding and depressurization of the tunnels between the “Demiivska” and “Lybidska” stations.
As informs The Office of the General Prosecutor, the Podilsk District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv, under the procedural guidance, charged the former head of the “Kyiv Metropoliten” KP for failure to perform official duties, which falls under Part 2 of Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation materials, the suspect did not properly assess the possible risks of emergency situations in the Kyiv metro, did not take the necessary measures to ensure the reliable operation of the facilities, and also did not create a commission for special checks and surveys of structures and objects of the Obolonsko-Teremkivska line.
The lack of these actions led to the gradual destruction of individual elements of the tunnels. As a result, flooding occurred, cracks formed in the walls of the tunnels, stalactites appeared and waterproofing was damaged, which affected the safety of this segment of the subway.
Due to the mentioned problems, on December 8, 2023, the capital authorities decided to temporarily stop the movement of trains on the section of the Obolonsko-Teremkivska line between the stations “Lybidska” and “Demiivska”.
