The government has banned turning off electricity in the frontline areas and near the border with Belarus and the Russian Federation

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers is improving the algorithm that will be able to ensure an even sequence and duration of blackouts.

In settlements located in a 20-kilometer zone near the border with Russia and Belarus, the lights will not be turned off. These restrictions will also not affect areas near the front line. This is what Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said stated during the government meeting.

He noted that the state of energy is a key factor for the life of individual regions and the country as a whole. Due to the Russian attacks and abnormal heat, a permanent shortage of energy capacities is recorded, therefore “Ukrenergo” is forced to limit consumers.

“Under these conditions, society’s request for a fair distribution of electricity is a priority. The government responds to this request and forms a list of critically important objects that are guaranteed priority electricity supply. After communication with the regional military administrations (OVA), we specify this list.”, – said the Prime Minister.

Critical facilities include gas, heat, electricity, water supply and drainage facilities, as well as hospitals.

“Today we also add a rule that blackouts will not apply to settlements and facilities in a 20-kilometer zone from the border with Russia and Belarus, as well as in a 20-kilometer front-line zone.”, – said Shmyhal.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers is improving the algorithm that will ensure an even sequence and duration of blackouts.
