The integration of the medical cannabis accounting system and the Unified Health System (USH) has been completed in Ukraine
In Ukraine ended technical integration of the electronic system of accounting for the circulation of medical cannabis (ESORK) with the electronic system of health care (ESOH). This became an important stage in the formation of a transparent and controlled circulation of drugs based on medical cannabis in Ukraine.
The purpose of the integration is to ensure that the manufacture and dispensing of medicinal products based on medical cannabis in pharmacies takes place exclusively with valid electronic prescriptions registered in the ESOZ. Each time a pharmacy employee enters data on the manufacture or dispensing of such a drug into the ESORK, the system automatically sends a request to the ESOZ to check the availability of the corresponding e-prescription.
“The integration of these two systems is an important step towards the transparent and safe circulation of medical cannabis in Ukraine. Now every prescription for cannabis medicine is checked automatically, which eliminates the risk of abuse and ensures that such drugs are dispensed only to those patients to whom they were actually prescribed by a doctor.”, – says Maria Karchevych, Deputy Minister of Health for Digital Development.
In the process of manufacturing or dispensing a medicinal product in a pharmacy, the pharmacist enters information about the corresponding e-prescription into the ESORK system. At the same time, there is an automatic exchange of data with the ESOZ, which allows you to confirm the presence of a prescription and record the fact of dispensing the drug.
ESORK is an electronic system created to ensure full control over the circulation of medical cannabis at all stages – from the import of raw materials to the sale of finished medicines. It is administered by the State Medical Service of Ukraine, and it unites all links of the market into a single digital ecosystem.
We would like to remind you that from October 1, 2024, the ESOZ provides a technical possibility for prescribing and dispensing drugs based on medical cannabis. Doctors can write electronic prescriptions, and pharmacies can dispense ready-made or extemporaneous medicines.
The integration of ESORK and ESOZ will ensure automated control of the circulation of such medicinal products, strengthen the monitoring of narcotic drugs, reduce the risks of abuse and guarantee transparency for all participants in the process – patients, doctors, pharmacists and regulators.
