The Kremlin harshly commented on the decision of the NATO summit regarding Ukraine
According to Vladimir Putin's spokesman, it is a "very serious threat" to Russia.

NATO’s jubilee summit confirmed that the Alliance has a “confrontational essence” and its expansion into the territory of Ukraine “is a threat to the existence of Russia.” This opinion was voiced by Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov on July 11.
“The North Atlantic Alliance once again very clearly confirmed its essence – it is an Alliance created in an era of confrontation and with the purpose of supporting confrontation”, he said at the briefing, write “Correspondent”.
He called NATO’s declaration a serious threat to Russia’s security.
“If we simplify the wording a little, NATO’s decision that Ukraine will necessarily become a member of this Alliance, it is obvious that one of the main goals of NATO is to suppress Russia and cause it to be strategically defeated.”, – believes Peskov.
According to him, Moscow will “very deeply analyze the decisions made” in Washington.
“This is a very serious threat to the national security of our country. All this will require us to take thoughtful, coordinated and effective measures to deter NATO. From the very beginning, we have stated that NATO’s expansion into the territory of Ukraine is an unacceptable threat to our existence and security.”, – added Peskov.
As you know, the joint declaration of the NATO summit in Washington was published on July 10. The document states that Ukraine is on an “irreversible path” to membership in the Alliance.
