The largest stockpile of improvised explosives in US history was discovered in Virginia

FBI agents during a search in the state of Virginia found a record number of improvised explosive devices for the United States. About this reported Associated Press agency.

Investigators seized more than 150 improvised explosive devices, including pipe bombs, during a search of the home of 36-year-old Brad Spafford in December. Prosecutors called the found arsenal the largest in US history.

According to the case file, most of the explosive devices, as well as tools and materials, including detonators and plastic pipes, were found in the garage. In the bedroom where Spafford lived with his wife and two young children, law enforcement officers found several bombs in a backpack.

In addition, an unregistered short-barreled rifle was found in Spafford’s possession. Some of the explosive devices were marked “lethal” and another arsenal included a bulletproof vest filled with explosives. Due to the dangers of transportation, most of the devices found were destroyed on site.

The charges are related to weapons and explosives. A federal judge ordered Spafford to remain in custody pending further proceedings.
