The majority of European citizens are convinced that corruption is actively flourishing in their countries: survey
According to 75% of the surveyed Europeans, the condition for the prosperity of corruption is the combination of business and politics.

More than two-thirds (68%) of citizens of the European Union believe that corruption is widespread in their countries. These are the results of the Eurobarometer survey publishes Politic.
The highest indicators of the prevalence of corruption were recorded among residents of Greece (98% of respondents consider corruption to be widespread), Portugal (96%), Malta (95%) and Slovenia (95%).
In other EU countries, the situation looks like this:
- In Poland, 52% of citizens believe that corruption is widespread in their country.
- In Hungary – 88%.
- In Germany – 51%.
- In France – 70%.
- In Italy – 78%.
- In Spain – 90%.
Residents of Finland (18%), Denmark (26%) and Luxembourg (43%) see the least amount of corruption in their countries.

About a quarter (27%) of the surveyed Europeans said that they had personally encountered corruption in their daily lives. This indicator shows that corruption is not an abstract concept for many citizens, but a real challenge that they have to face on a daily basis.
In addition, 75% of respondents believe that business and politics are too closely connected, which creates conditions for corruption to flourish. Such an opinion emphasizes the importance of separating economic and political interests for an effective fight against corruption.
We will remind, according to the data of the October survey, more than half of Ukrainians believed that there are indeed attempts to fight corruption and positive developments in the country. This shows the growing confidence in anti-corruption measures in Ukraine and progress in this area.
Ukraine also improved its performance in the 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index. This is a positive signal that indicates that efforts aimed at reducing the level of corruption are beginning to yield results.
