The Ministry of Defense is preparing to launch automated postponements from mobilization

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is actively working on creating a system of automated postponements from mobilization for certain categories of citizens. This initiative is aimed at simplifying the process of granting deferments to persons who are legally entitled to exemption from mobilization. This was explained in detail by the head of the Information Technology Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Oleg Berestovy, in an interview for the DOU Podcast.
Automated deferrals are necessary for several groups of citizens who fall under the protection of the law. Among them are persons with disabilities, students, as well as guardians of three or more children. The importance of this project is to save citizens from unnecessary bureaucratic procedures and reduce the burden on territorial procurement centers (TCC).
Oleg Berestovy noted that one of the key aspects is facilitating the process for people with disabilities. If the state already has information about a certain group of disabilities that makes a person unsuitable for military service, it makes no sense to force them to undergo repeated medical examinations or to confirm this status again and again.
Berestovy emphasized that both regulatory regulation and technical support are necessary for the implementation of this system. That is, it is necessary to change the legislation in such a way that automated postponements become legal and mandatory, as well as to create an effective technical infrastructure for their operation. He noted that specialists of the Ministry of Defense are already working on this, and significant progress in this direction is expected in the coming weeks.
The system of automated deferrals will cover several categories of citizens. First, it concerns persons with disabilities, who will be automatically exempted from the need to confirm their status. Secondly, deferments will be granted to guardians of three or more children, because they perform important social functions. And finally, it concerns those who get their first higher education, as the state is interested in students being able to complete their studies without the risk of being mobilized.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense is actively working on expanding opportunities for online military registration. According to Berestovoy, this function is one of the most relevant today. Automation of accounting and mobilization processes will reduce the burden on TCCs and increase the efficiency of their work.
Thus, the launch of the system of automated deferrals is aimed at simplifying processes for citizens, improving the efficiency of government bodies and creating more convenient conditions for protected categories of the population.
