The Ministry of Education and Science initiated a deferment from mobilization for some teachers

The Ministry of Education and Science has initiated a postponement of mobilization for individual teaching staff of state and municipal-owned out-of-school education institutions. About this reported Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi.
We are talking about teachers of extracurricular education groups who work with children in the main areas: scientific and technical, military and patriotic, ecological and naturalistic and research and experimental. The purpose of the decision is to support the strategically important sphere of education, which forms in children the skills necessary for the future technological and economic development of the country.
“Out-of-school education in these areas plays an important role in the formation of skills important for the development of the technological, scientific and economic potential of Ukraine. It helps to reveal children’s interest in natural sciences and lays the foundation for choosing technical professions in the future”, – Lisovyi explained.
According to him, the involvement of young people in STEM education, scientific and engineering activities, as well as the education of citizenship is a strategic task of the state, which requires the support of professional personnel potential in the field of extracurricular education. The development of science and technology education is identified as the key to economic recovery after the victory.
The deferral will only apply to full-time employees who held relevant positions as of January 1, 2025, to prevent potential abuse. The initiative has already been approved by the government, and the Verkhovna Rada must further consider it.
We will remind that at the beginning of April, the government supported changes to the draft law on the postponement of the mobilization of teachers and students. The changes provide for the expansion of the list of persons who are not subject to mobilization. In particular, this applies to students of vocational and technical institutions and vocational higher education who started their studies no later than a year before reaching the minimum age for basic military service in accordance with Article 15 of the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service”, as well as students who are pursuing higher education in full-time or dual forms.
