The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported how many generals went into the reserve during the war
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 41 officers of the highest command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been released from reserve service due to their health. Such data provided Main Directorate of Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The information refers to the period from February 24, 2022 to August 1, 2024.
“According to the information provided by the Personnel Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the following is reported: during the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, in the period from 24.02.2022 to 01.08.2024, 41 senior officers were released from military service on health grounds “, – says the answer.
The senior officer corps, which includes generals of various ranks, including major generals, lieutenant generals, and colonel generals, is the key chain of command of the Ukrainian army. The dismissal of these officers took place on the basis of the conclusions of the military medical commissions, which confirmed their unfitness for further military service due to their health.
During the same period, only one representative of the senior officers was accepted for military service. This testifies to a balanced approach to personnel policy in the Armed Forces, especially in wartime, when key command positions should be occupied by officers who are most prepared and able to perform strategic tasks.
The notification clarifies the very issue of dismissal of generals and senior command staff based on medical indicators. This has become relevant due to the significant physical and psychological stress that falls on the share of the Ukrainian military during the war. The dismissal is part of the complex personnel reality faced by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the conditions of the long struggle for the country’s independence.
