The Ministry of Health has announced the timing of the appearance of medicines with medical cannabis in pharmacies
Patients who need medicines based on medical cannabis will soon be able to purchase them in Ukrainian pharmacies. Dispensing of such drugs will be done exclusively by electronic prescriptions. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Health specified that the sale of drugs will begin after the appropriate plant substances for the manufacture of drugs in pharmacies or ready-made drugs are imported to the Ukrainian market. The process of manufacturing and dispensing medicines based on medical cannabis will be controlled through the electronic accounting system for the circulation of medical cannabis (ESORK), and will be carried out exclusively by e-prescriptions.
The agency noted that all necessary digital solutions for working with cannabis-based medicinal products have already been implemented. All entities that will participate in the production, import and circulation of medical cannabis must be registered with ESORK. This applies to pharmacies that will manufacture preparations based on the plant substance of cannabis, medical facilities that plan to use ready-made medicines, as well as importers who will import seeds, plant substances or finished medicines.
Deputy Minister of Health for Digital Development Maria Karčevych emphasized that all stages of operations with medical cannabis, from import to final sale, will be under strict control.
The Ministry of Health also announced that an electronic prescription for the purchase of medical cannabis drugs will be able to be issued by a primary care or specialized medical doctor. It will be possible to buy these medicines only in pharmacies with an appropriate license for activity in the field of circulation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
