The National Bank has not bought foreign currency for the fourth week in a row

In the week from September 30 to October 4, the National Bank of Ukraine sold 721.15 million dollars on the interbank market, without making any purchases of currency. Officials testify to this data NBU
During this period, the NBU sold $35 million less than the previous week. However, currency interventions continued without buying currency. In general, since the beginning of 2024, the National Bank sold 24.1 billion dollars and bought only 119.2 million dollars.
It was previously reported that on January 25, the NBU board decided to leave the discount rate at 15%. This decision was dictated by the need to ensure exchange rate stability, maintain moderate inflation and bring it to the target level of 5% in 2024.
On October 2, 2023, the National Bank announced the transition from a fixed exchange rate, and from October 3, the official dollar exchange rate began to change for the first time since July 2022.
