Ukraine officially received the status of “Observer” in the European Gendarmerie Forces (EUROGENDFOR). About this reported Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The delegation of the National Guard of Ukraine, headed by commander Oleksandr Pivnenko, signed the relevant declaration during the meeting of the Interdepartmental Committee of the high level of EUROGENDFOR.

“The National Guard of Ukraine has integrated into the European community of law enforcement formations with military status in order to implement the strategic course of the state to acquire full membership in the EU and NATO”, – said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

This status opens up new opportunities for Ukraine, including participation in missions and exercises of the European Gendarmerie Forces, exchange of experience and implementation of European standards in the areas of public security, fight against crime and terrorism. The decision will also allow Ukraine to strengthen its potential in ensuring public order, expand international cooperation and implement joint technical assistance projects.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that granting Ukraine this status is an important step on the way to its full membership in European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
