The Parliament of Ukraine supported the renaming of more than a hundred courts

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted draft law No. 12351 on renaming courts. According to it, more than 100 objects will change their name. About this reported People’s Deputy Iryna Gerashchenko.

“Imagine, in some cities of Ukraine there were still courts with the name – Leninsky, Dzerzhynsky, Kirovsky. More than 100 courts were named after the names of murderers and executioners of the times of Soviet terror.” – noted the narodepka.

In particular, the authors of the draft law suggested renaming the Yuzhnensky City Court of Odesa Oblast to Pivdennivskyi, the Malinovsky District Court of Odesa to Khadzhibeyskyi, the Novomoskovsk City Court of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast to Samarivskyi, the Leninsky District Court of Dnipropetrovsk to Novokodatskyi, the Samara District Court of Dnipropetrovsk to the Samarsky District Court of Dnipro, etc.

The renaming of local general courts will not mean the creation of a new court, its reorganization or liquidation. In total, it is planned to change the names of 103 judicial institutions throughout Ukraine, in particular in the temporarily occupied territories.
