Law enforcement bodies informed the current People’s Deputy of Ukraine about the suspicion of organizing the illegal crossing of the state border for persons of conscription age who could potentially evade mobilization. According to the investigation, the deputy, who is a member of the Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, addressed 23 official letters to the State Border Service of Ukraine from July 2022 to 2023. In them, he asked for permission to travel abroad to men of draft age, designating them as “drivers” for his own escort. Thanks to these letters, 18 people received permission to cross the state border, although in reality the people’s deputy was often abroad alone or did not leave the country at all.
The case file states that in some cases the deputy demanded up to five “drivers” for his trips at the same time. Some of these persons returned to Ukraine independently, but three men disappeared abroad and did not return.
The deputy is accused of organizing the illegal transportation of persons across the state border using his official position, as well as official forgery. Sanctions of the articles, under which the case was initiated, provide punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term of up to seven years. The investigation continues to insist on choosing him a preventive measure in the form of detention.
In addition, law enforcement officers conduct searches not only of the deputy himself, but also of persons who went abroad with his assistance. The investigation in this case is ongoing.

Currently, searches are being conducted at the deputy’s place of residence, and the investigators have appealed to the court to choose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention.
