The port of Chornomorsk received a container ship for the first time since the beginning of the war
For the first time since the beginning of the full-scale war, the state enterprise “Sea Trade Port “Chornomorsk” accepted a linear container ship. As of today, it is the only state port of Ukraine that handles container cargo. About informs Center for Transport Strategies.
“MTP “Chornomorsk” continues to sign new contracts and prepare to increase the volume of transshipment. Work is actively underway to expand areas of cooperation, attract new customers and improve the quality of service.” – says the message.
On July 16, 2025, the port set a record for the number of loaded containers handled during one call — 470 containers. Over 18,000 TEUs were handled at the port over the past year.
“In wartime conditions, ensuring linear container traffic is a contribution not only to the economy, but also to the stability of the state. It is support for Ukrainian business, farmers, manufacturers, exporters.” – stressed the management of the port.
The port is planning to implement concession projects, in particular regarding the development of the container terminal. The project of this concession was presented this year in Warsaw. The selection of the concessionaire will take place at an open auction based on the principle of the best offer in terms of price and terms. The entire process is under the supervision of EBRD and IFC to ensure transparency and impartiality.
