The President of South Korea announced the introduction of martial law in the country

On December 3, the President of South Korea, Yoon Seok-yeol announced on the introduction of martial law in the country. This decision was taken to protect the constitutional order and prevent threats from forces sympathetic to North Korea.

The president said that such a step is aimed at preserving the freedom and well-being of South Korean citizens. In his speech, Yoon Seok-yeol also accused the opposition of subversive activities, saying it “controls the parliament, supports North Korea and blocks the work of the government.” According to him, the introduction of martial law became a forced measure due to the actions of opposition parties, which “took parliamentary processes hostage.”

The decision was made after the opposition Democratic Party introduced a shortened version of the state budget to the budget committee and filed requests for impeachment of the state auditor and the chief prosecutor.

South Korea’s Ministry of Defense in response to the president’s decision punished to all military units to strengthen their combat capability to ensure stability and security in emergency situations.
