The President of Ukraine signed a law on replacing the fine with community service

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed Law No. 4081-IX, which is aimed at improving the procedure for the execution of punishments in the form of fines and community service. About this reported press service of the Verkhovna Rada.
The document provides for the possibility of replacing the fine with another type of punishment, if its collection is impossible due to the debtor’s lack of funds or property.
In addition, the law allows to perform public works not only in a certain settlement, but also within the boundaries of an entire city or region. The condition is the provision of transport for transporting convicts to the place of work and back.
According to the new regulations, the duration of public works cannot exceed four hours a day. At the request of the convict, this period can be extended to eight hours, but the total amount must be at least forty hours per month. For minors, restrictions are set at the level of no more than two hours per day and no less than twenty-five hours per month.
