Sibiga initiated the creation of an agricultural hub in Oman to export Ukrainian products
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, during negotiations with the Minister of Economy of Oman, Dr. Saeed bin Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Sakri, made a proposal to create a food hub in the Sultanate of Oman. This hub would serve as an important platform for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to the markets of East African countries, informs press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
During the meeting, Sybiga emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening cooperation between Ukraine, Oman and the Persian Gulf countries in such key areas as trade, investment, food export, renewable energy and technology. He emphasized that, despite Russia’s aggression and attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure, Ukraine remains one of the guarantors of world food security and a reliable supplier of critically needed food for the countries of the Middle East and Africa.
Sybiga also invited the Omani side to participate in the third Food Summit, which will be held this year in Kyiv, and initiated the creation of a bilateral intergovernmental commission for the development of cooperation. They agreed on holding the first meeting of the commission and the possibility of organizing mutual business missions to explore partnership opportunities.
During the negotiations, the prospects of concluding agreements on the avoidance of double taxation and preferential trade were also discussed, which will contribute to the strengthening of trade relations between the countries. Particular attention was paid to cultural and humanitarian cooperation and Oman’s participation in the restoration of Ukraine, in particular within the framework of the upcoming conference on the reconstruction of our state.
