The Russian army attacked Kharkiv for the first time with an FPV drone with an RPG-based warhead

For the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian troops used an FPV drone equipped with a warhead based on a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher (RPG) against Kharkiv. About this reported Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
“For the first time during the full-scale invasion, the enemy used an FPV drone with an RPG-based warhead,” – the message says.
Terekhov described it as a “new, more insidious threat”, which, according to him, indicates the desire of the Russian forces to identify “vulnerable points” in Kharkiv’s defense system. He also added that during the past week, seven hits were recorded in the city, as a result of which 11 people were injured, including one child.
“The destruction, as before, affected exclusively the civilian infrastructure: private houses, multi-storey residential buildings, printing houses and office premises were affected”, – noted the mayor of Kharkiv.
We will remind, on May 20, 2025, the edition of Defense Express reported, that Russia has begun installing two new types of combined warheads on Shahed drones. One of them is produced in Russia, the other in Iran. Both have increased weight — from the standard 50 to 90 kilograms.
The Russian 90-kilogram warhead combines cumulative, fragmentation, high-explosive and incendiary action. Instead, the Iranian variant has similar characteristics but does not contain incendiary components.
