The Russian army has reduced the number of assaults in the Sumy direction: State Security Service of Ukraine

Over the last day, Russian troops continued to shell the border regions of Ukraine, in particular Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions. At the same time, the activity of enemy assault groups in the Sumy direction has significantly decreased. About this reported Spokesman of the State Border Service Andriy Demchenko on the air “We-Ukraine”.
“The advance of small assault groups in the Sumy region has been restrained, and now their activity has significantly decreased.” Demchenko noted.
He also added that the enemy is actively using aviation on the territory of the Sumy region: it drops guided aerial bombs and strikes with unguided missiles. The highest intensity of shelling is observed within Yunakivska and Khotyn communities.
We will remind, on June 24, the DPSU reported a noticeable decrease in the combat activity of Russian forces in the Sumy direction. Meanwhile, the Russian Federation stated that they do not intend to occupy Sumy, but “do not rule out” such a possibility. On June 26, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that the Ukrainian defenders managed to stop the offensive actions of the Russians in the Sumy region.
On June 30, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, also confirmed that the implementation of Russia’s intentions regarding this region is being disrupted thanks to the effective work of the Armed Forces. On July 1, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time demonstrated on maps the advance of the enemy on the territory of the Sumy region.
