The Russian government has completely banned the export of gasoline until the end of the summer

The Russian government has introduced a ban on the export of gasoline for companies producing petroleum products, which will be in effect until August 31. The relevant resolution was adopted by the Russian government, informs “Radio Liberty”
“The decision was made to maintain a stable situation on the domestic fuel market during the period of high seasonal demand and agricultural work”, — explained the Russian government.
Previously, at the beginning of March, a ban on the export of motor gasoline was already in effect, but it only applied to companies that are not manufacturers. The restrictions did not cover supplies abroad from oil refineries.
Against the background of the introduced restrictions, stock exchange prices for gasoline fluctuated in June and July, and in recent weeks showed rapid growth. Industry participants attribute the reason for this situation on the market to the supply shortage on the exchanges, which arose due to the seasonal increase in demand for fuel and repairs of oil refineries. The increase in wholesale prices for gasoline began back in April: the price of A-92 on the St. Petersburg Commodity Exchange jumped by 29%, exceeding the mark of 65,000 rubles per ton.
“The price of A-95 jumped by 28% and exceeded 73 thousand rubles per ton, almost breaking the absolute record set in the summer of 2023”, – says the message.
Sanctions have significantly complicated the work of Russian oil and gas companies, especially with regard to the repair of refineries. As Russian Energy Minister Serhiy Tsyvilenko explained, the “failures” that occur at oil refineries are related to problems with the supply of equipment that fell under European sanctions as part of the first package of restrictions after the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
