The SBI detained the ex-deputy head of the Supreme Economic Court

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office detained the former deputy chairman of the Higher Economic Court of Ukraine and informed him of a new suspicion. About this informs Office of the Prosecutor General and the SBI.

The name of the suspect has not been officially disclosed, but according to sources of the RFE/RL “Schemes” project, it is Artur Yemelyanov.

The former judge, who currently works as a lawyer, was part of a criminal organization consisting mainly of judges, lawyers, arbitration administrators and other employees of the judicial system, according to the SBI and OGP. Members of this group made the necessary decisions for bribes, mostly in economic matters.

“They made “necessary” decisions for bribes, mainly in business disputes. The organizer of the “business” – also a former high-ranking official of the Higher Economic Court of Ukraine – illegally interfered in the distribution of cases and referred them exclusively to “their” judges, who fulfilled the “wishes of the customers”, – the SBI reports.

The law enforcement officers note that the participants of the scheme for a long time practically made it impossible to make court decisions without bribes. Yemelyanova is accused of participating in a criminal organization and receiving bribes. The prosecutor’s office has already submitted a petition to the court to take him into custody.
