The SBI exposed a scheme to transfer servicemen to the rear units

The State Bureau of Investigation announced the suspicion of four persons who organized an illegal scheme of transferring servicemen from the frontline to the rear units for a monetary reward. About this reported DBR press office.

Among the participants of the ceremony is the former deputy chief of staff of one of the commands of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the investigation, the average amount of “reward” for the transfer was 8 thousand US dollars. The official, using his connections and official powers, directly influenced the adoption of illegal decisions by the military leadership, including high-ranking officials at various levels.

The members of the criminal group had knowledge about the activities of operational and military units, so they created a well-thought-out system of interaction and followed a strict conspiracy. However, thanks to the diligent work of the investigators, it was possible to fully document their actions.

All four defendants were charged with suspicion under part 2 Art. 28 and h. 3 Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — abuse of influence, committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy. Punishment under these articles includes imprisonment for a term of up to eight years with confiscation of property.

In addition, four more servicemen were notified of suspicion under Part 1 Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — for participating in a scheme in which they were transferred to the rear units for money. As part of the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers are checking more than 150 possible cases of illegal transfer of military personnel under a similar scheme. Procedural management in the case is carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the General Prosecutor’s Office.
