State Bureau of Investigation started pre-trial investigation into the breach of the state border in the Kharkiv region by Russian troops on May 10, 2024. As a result of storming Ukrainian positions, the occupiers managed to capture several settlements, causing losses to the Armed Forces and the civilian population.
The best investigators and the leadership of the Main Investigative Department of the State Security Bureau are involved in the investigation, there is close interaction with the SBU, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, OTU “Kharkiv” and OSU “Khortytsia”.
As part of the investigation, the SBI comprehensively checks:
- The level of support and staffing of units of the Armed Forces.
- Construction of fortifications.
- Interaction between military units.
- Actions of the leadership of all units in the region before, during and after the offensive actions of the enemy.
- There are possible facts of groundless abandonment of combat positions by units of the Armed Forces.
- A minute-by-minute development of events was established, a number of examinations were appointed. Preliminary qualification — voluntary abandonment of the battlefield and negligent attitude to military service.
All procedural actions are carried out taking into account the real situation in the places of deployment of units and without prejudice to their performance of combat tasks. Procedural management is carried out by the Kharkiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Eastern region.
