The SBU detained a couple of Russian agents for preparing attacks on Sumy Oblast and Kharkiv

The department emphasized that the main targets of the occupiers were the headquarters and fortified areas of the units of the Armed Forces and border guards.

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and detained a couple who worked for the FSB of the Russian Federation. The pair prepared coordinates for missile strikes on units of the Ukrainian forces in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions on behalf of the Russian special services. About this reported in the department.

The main targets of the occupiers were the headquarters and fortifications of units of the Armed Forces and border guards. In addition, the Russian invaders were interested in information about the location of logistics bases and warehouses with weapons and ammunition of the Ukrainian military.

To collect the necessary information, the FSB engaged an agent from Sumy Oblast, who worked as a nurse in a medical institution in Kharkiv. Carrying out the tasks of the Russian special service, she asked her colleagues about the bases of the Defense Forces in the Kharkiv region.

Her husband, a former employee of the disbanded militia who lived in Okhtyrka, Sumy region, was also involved in the activity. At the request of his wife, he went around the border area, looking for the locations of the Ukrainian military, and secretly asked his acquaintances for the necessary information. He transmitted the received data to his wife via messenger, and she reported to her Russian curator, whose identity has already been established.

The FSB drew attention to the woman because of her pro-Russian views, which she spread in Telegram channels. Her husband also supported Russia and hoped for the capture of the region by the occupiers.

During the searches, phones and SIM cards of various operators with evidence of criminal activities were seized from the couple. The accused are currently in custody. The woman is suspected under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law), and her husband’s actions are classified under Part 2 of Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement and location of the Armed Forces). FSB agents face 8 years to life imprisonment.
