The State Bureau of Investigation detained the vice-rector of the national academy who forced his subordinates to build a house for him (video)
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, according to the internal security materials of the State Border Service, detained the vice-rector of the National Military Academy, who forced his subordinates to work on the construction of a private house on his own plot of land.
According to the investigation, starting from the beginning of 2024, the official systematically involved employees of the educational institution in construction work on his site, instead of them performing official duties and undergoing military service. Currently, at least five such persons have been identified. It is also checked whether cadets could be involved in the work.
On May 6, 2025, SBI officers searched the suspect’s apartment and the premises of the academy. A large amount of property with inventory numbers of the educational institution was found on the construction site – in particular, beds, air conditioners, heaters, souvenir products, as well as construction materials purchased with state budget funds, in particular, tiles and laminate. The amount of damages caused to the state is currently being determined.
The law enforcement officers detained the official and informed him of the suspicion under part. 5th century 426-1 and ch. 4 Art. 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — exceeding official authority and misappropriation of military property by a military official, as well as taking possession of it by abusing his official position under martial law. The court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention with the alternative of bail in the amount of 450 thousand hryvnias, he was removed from his post.
According to the specified articles, the punishment is up to 15 years of imprisonment. Procedural management in the case is carried out by the Khmelnytskyi specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Western region.
