The State Bureau of Investigation exposed the head of the colony who paid salaries to employees who were absent from duty

DBR exposed the head of the colony in Zhytomyr Oblast, who organized illegal wage payments to workers who actually did not go to work.

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, with the support of the leadership of the State Criminal Enforcement Service, have completed a pre-trial investigation regarding the deputy head of Raykiv correctional colony No. 73 in Zhytomyr region, who is suspected of illegally paying wages to employees who did not actually perform official duties. The indictment was sent to the court.

The investigation established that from October 2021 to July 2024, the official organized baseless accruals of salaries, bonuses and allowances to four subordinates, who only occasionally showed up at work, and most of the time did not perform official duties. The total amount of illegally paid funds exceeded 600 thousand hryvnias. According to preliminary data, the employee received part of these payments in the form of “kickbacks”.

In addition, during the investigation, it was found that in 2023, the deputy head of the colony did not include in the declaration a residential building with an area of ​​104 square meters. m and a plot of land with an area of ​​0.213 ha on which this real estate is located.

The official is charged with abuse of office, which caused serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), as well as intentionally entering false information into the declaration (Part 1 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). These articles are punishable by imprisonment for up to 6 years.

Four workers of the colony who were involved in this scheme have been fired. At the same time, measures are being taken to compensate the state for the damages caused. Procedural management in the case is carried out by the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
