The Supreme Council of Justice suspended the judge on suspicion of organizing a kidnapping

The suspect illegally engaged in entrepreneurial activities while performing his judicial duties.

In accordance with the request of the Deputy Prosecutor General, the Supreme Council of Justice decided to remove the judge of the Commercial Court from his post, informs press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The judge was informed of suspicion of attempted kidnapping and organization of illegal deprivation of liberty under Part 2 of Article 15, Part 3 of Article 27 and Part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Violating the law, the suspect engaged in entrepreneurial activities at the same time as performing judicial duties. He and his partner were involved in agricultural business and received profits from it.

The judge decided to deprive his partner of the ownership of the agricultural machinery. For this, he organized a plan to kidnap his partner. However, thanks to the operative actions of the law enforcement officers, this plan was exposed.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Main Investigative Department of the SBI under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office and operational support of the SBI Territorial Department.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
