The Union of ATO veterans demands from the Ministry of Education changes in the attitude towards military personnel

The non-governmental organization “Union of ATO Veterans” appealed to the Ministry of Education and Science with a demand to eliminate discriminatory restrictions that prevent servicemen from getting an education. Currently, the legislation prohibits mobilized military personnel from studying at institutions outside the security and defense sector, which veterans consider unacceptable and demand urgent changes.
In its appeal, the organization emphasizes the need to create conditions that will allow military personnel to receive education without separation from service, regardless of the length of the contract or the decision of the command. Veterans claim that bureaucratic obstacles limit their right to professional development, which is unacceptable in today’s environment.
“We insist on immediate changes in the legislation to ensure equal access to higher education for all military personnel and veterans. Current restrictions create systemic problems, making it difficult to obtain study permits and, as a result, exercise the right to education. We propose to allow studies without separation from service without any restrictions and to simplify the procedure for obtaining permits. Supporting veterans in obtaining an education is critical for their successful integration into civilian life. The lack of changes may further hinder the realization of their rights.”, — Kyrylo Kuzminov, Deputy Chairman for Veterans Business, NGO “Union of ATO Veterans”, commented on the situation.
