The defendant in the murder of Farion was changed the qualification of the crime, now he faces life imprisonment

Vyacheslav Zinchenko, a figure in the case of the murder of Iryna Farion, has had his crime classified changed, and the case materials have already been handed over to the court. About this reported press service of the National Police.
Currently, he is suspected of the intentional killing of a person in connection with the performance of a public duty due to motives of national intolerance, and of illegal handling of weapons. Zinchenko faces life imprisonment.
Law enforcement officers established that in 2022, an 18-year-old resident of Dnipro joined a group in one of the messengers, which promoted the cult of violence, cruelty and intolerance on racial, national and religious grounds. In 2024, he joined another group linked to a Russian neo-Nazi organization.
During his stay in these communities, Zinchenko developed a personal dislike for Iryna Farion because of her active work in defense of the Ukrainian language and culture. In his opinion, she divided society, which was the reason for the decision to kill her.
The investigators of the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office, changed the qualification of the crime and sent the indictment to the court. He is accused of illegal handling of weapons (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and of intentional murder committed for reasons of national intolerance (Paragraphs 8, 14 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
