The United States will reform the Ground Forces, taking into account the experience of the war in Ukraine

The US has begun a large-scale transformation of the Ground Forces, based on the experience of the war between Ukraine and Russia. About this informs The Wall Street Journal.
“The US military is embarking on its biggest overhaul since the end of the Cold War, planning to arm each of its combat divisions with 1,000 drones and get rid of outdated weapons and equipment,” – says the message.
The reform, which has been in development for more than a year, largely takes into account the features of modern warfare, demonstrated in Ukraine, where the widespread use of small drones has significantly affected combat tactics.
“If the reform is implemented, 10 regular army combat divisions will actively transition to the use of drones, using them for surveillance, moving supplies and conducting strikes,” WSJ notes.
Currently, the military is working to improve communication between units, involving modern means of communication, including mobile communication, the Internet and tablets.
“The ground forces plan to invest about 3 billion dollars in the development of more effective systems for shooting down enemy drones and are working on strengthening their capabilities to conduct electronic warfare”, – it is noted in the material.
In general, it is planned to allocate 36 billion dollars to the implementation of the reform over the next five years. The army will seek these funds through the write-off of obsolete weapons systems, reduction of the number of civilian personnel and other optimization methods.
