Israel completely renounces the Patriot systems, but is not going to transfer them to Ukraine
The Israeli military has announced its intention to decommission all Patriot air defense batteries by the end of June. The reason for this decision is the obsolescence of these complexes.
About this informs Defense Express.
Despite the successful use of the Patriot in Ukraine, the Israeli military considers them clumsy and ineffective. During operation in Israel, these complexes were used only to shoot down drones, but not airplanes.
Instead of the Patriot, Israel has its own modern David’s Sling missile defense system, which uses the more powerful and cheaper Stunner missile.
Analysts believe that Israel is unlikely to transfer “surplus” Patriots to Ukraine, as it has not previously provided similar military assistance and blocks the re-export of weapons. The transfer of the “Patriots” is possible only under the condition of a buyout or exchange according to a complex scheme with the participation of the United States.
Military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi on the air telethon commented on Israel’s decision to write off the Patriot air defense system. He noted that Ukraine needs different air defense systems, not just Patriot, and that the fixation on them arose because of their prevalence in Western countries.
The expert also expressed the opinion that the Patriot decommissioned by Israel may end up in Ukraine, but this will happen behind the scenes. He linked this decision with the possible withdrawal of the US claims against Israel in the plan of launching a war in the Gaza Strip.
